Stephen Zachary Day was drafted in the 5th round by the New York Yankees in 1996 (amateur draft), and was traded on June 29, 2000 to the Cleveland Indians (along with Ricky Ledee & Jake Westbrook) for David Justice. In July 2001, the Cleveland Indians traded Zach Day to the Montreal Expos for Milton Bradley. Day started the 2005 season with the Washington Nationals, but was traded to the Colorado Rockies along with J.J. Davis & a minor league player to be named or cash for Preston Wilson and cash. In 2006, Day started the season with the Rockies and started 3 games, posting a 1-2 record with an era of 10.80. On April 21, The Rockies designated Day for assignment, and on April 26 Day was claimed off waivers by the Washington Nationals. After being picked up by the Nationals, Day has put together a 1-1 record with the club with an era of 2.37 in three games started.
Zach Day will open the 2008 season with the Minnesota Twins organization.
Most people believe that Zach Day's best season was 2003, when he posted a 4.18 ERA and struck out 61 batters.
