Biography[]

Born on April 26, 1917 in Birmingham, Alabama, Virgil Trucks (Virgil Oliver Trucks) played for the Detroit Tigers, St. Louis Browns, Chicago White Sox, Kansas City Athletics and New York Yankees over the course of his 17 year career. Trucks broke into the bigs on September 27, 1941 with the Detroit Tigers, and put up a 2.74 ERA in 167.2 innings pitched in 1942, his rookie year.

There is some disagreement on what was Virgil Trucks's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1953, when he posted a 2.93 ERA, won 20 games and struck out 149 batters. However, others believe that it was 1954, when he posted a 2.79 ERA, won 19 games and struck out 152 batters.
