Biography

Born on April 12, 1876 in Cecil County, Maryland, Vic Willis (Victor Gazaway Willis) played for the Boston Beaneaters, Pittsburgh Pirates and St. Louis Cardinals over the course of his 13 year career. Willis broke into the bigs on April 20, 1898 with the Boston Beaneaters, and put up a 2.84 ERA in 311 innings pitched in 1898, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Vic Willis's best season was 1902, when he posted a 2.20 ERA, won 27 games and struck out 225 batters.
