Biography[]

Tony Batista (Leocadio Francisco Batista) was born on December 9, 1973 in Puerto Plata, Puerto Plata (Dominican Republic). He made his Major League debut on June 3, 1996 for the Oakland Athletics. In 1996, his rookie year, he hit .298 with 6 home runs and 25 RBI. Batista played for the Oakland Athletics, Arizona Diamondbacks, Toronto Blue Jays, Baltimore Orioles, Montreal Expos, Minnesota Twins, and Washington Nationals over the course of his 11 year career.

There is some disagreement on what was Tony Batista's most productive season. Some believe that it was 2000, when he slugged 41 home runs and knocked in 114 runs. However, others believe that it was 2004, when he slugged 32 home runs and knocked in 110 runs.
