After a dismal 9-14 start, the Philadelphia Phillies are finally starting to come alive. They won their 7th straight on Saturday night with a 4-1 victory over the San Francisco Giants. Despite their hot streak, the Phillies are still in 2nd place in the NL East, 5 games behind the New York Mets.

Ryan Madson went 6 strong innings for the Phils allowing 1 run and improved to 3-1 on the year despite a 6.82 ERA. Jamey Wright took the loss despite the quality start, allowing 3 runs in 6 IP. He's 2-3 on the year with a 4.61 ERA.

Chase Utley went 2-3, scoring 1 run, and knocking in 2. Utley has been absolutely on fire in the month of May with a .500/.556/.958 line in 24 AB's and is batting .321/.379/.589 on the year with 7 homers and 23 RBI. The young second baseman is showing that last year was not a fluke and with the struggles of Jeff Kent he is beginning to take his place as baseball's top offensive second baseman.

Tom Gordon notched his 10th save of the year.
