Biography

Merito Acosta (Baldomero Pedro (Fernandez) Acosta) was born on May 19, 1896 in Bauta, Cuba. He made his Major League debut on June 15, 1913 for the Washington Senators. In 1915, his rookie year, he hit .209 with 0 home runs and 18 RBI. Acosta played for the Washington Senators and Philadelphia Athletics over the course of his 5 year career.

Most people believe that Merito Acosta's best season was 1918, when he hit for a .298 average.
