Biography

Lefty O'Doul (Francis Joseph O'Doul) was born on March 4, 1897 in San Francisco, California. He made his Major League debut on April 29, 1919 for the New York Yankees. In 1928, his rookie year, he hit .319 with 8 home runs and 46 RBI. O'Doul played for the New York Yankees, Boston Red Sox, New York Giants, Philadelphia Phillies, Brooklyn Robins and Brooklyn Dodgers over the course of his 11 year career.

Most people believe that Lefty O'Doul's best season was 1929, when he slugged 32 home runs, hit for a .398 average and knocked in 122 runs.
