Born on June 25, 1976 in Ponce, Puerto Rico, Javier Vazquez (Javier Carlos Vazquez) played for the Montreal Expos, New York Yankees, Arizona Diamondbacks and Chicago White Sox over the course of his 9 year career. Vazquez broke into the bigs on April 3, 1998 with the Montreal Expos, and put up a 6.06 ERA in 172.1 innings pitched in 1998, his rookie year.
There is some disagreement on what was Javier Vazquez's most productive season. Some believe that it was 2001, when he posted a 3.42 ERA, won 16 games and struck out 208 batters. However, others believe that it was 2003, when he posted a 3.24 ERA, won 13 games and struck out 241 batters.
