Jared Lorenzen is the Giants backup quarterback out of the University of Kentucky. He wore number 12 up until 2007 when rookie Steve Smith purchased it off of him for 15,000 dollars. Lorenzen now wears number 13. Lorenzen has a cannon for an arm and is somewhat mobile.
Lorenzen's most distinguishing feature is his weight. He tips the scales at 285 pounds. This has garnered him many nicknames such as The Hefty Lefty, The Pillsbury Throwboy, The Round Mound of Touchdown, and J-Load.
In March 2008, the Giants once again showed a lack of confidence in Lorenzen. They signed former cast-off quarterback David Carr to back up Eli Manning.
