  • Babe Ruth is sold to the New York Yankees from the Boston Red Sox for $100k. Legend says that the money was becase Harry Frazee, at that time the owner of the Sox, wanted to finance a Broadway play. That is entirely untrue. 70 years later Dan Shaugnessy would create the "Curse of the Bambino" in an attempt to sell more books.
