Biography

Born on June 5, 1874 in North Adams, Massachusetts, Jack Chesbro (John Dwight Chesbro) played for the Pittsburgh Pirates, New York Highlanders and Boston Red Sox over the course of his 11 year career. Chesbro broke into the bigs on July 12, 1899 with the Pittsburgh Pirates, and put up a 4.11 ERA in 149 innings pitched in 1899, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Jack Chesbro's best season was 1904, when he posted a 1.82 ERA, won 41 games and struck out 239 batters.
