LaVar Arrington, linebacker, signed a seven-year contract with the New York Giants worth about $3.7 million a year.

Arrington, 27, was the second choice over all by the Washington Redskins in the 2000 NFL Draft. He was named to the Pro Bowl in successive years from 2001 to 2003.

A knee injury limited his 2004 season to four games. Arrington played sporadically last season after a financial dispute with team management, knee rehabilitation, and problems with the team.

In an off-season deal with the Redskins, Arrington forfeited $4.4 million in bonuses to become a free agent.
