Biography

Geoff Sanderson (born February 1, 1972 in Hay River, Northwest Territories) is a player in the National Hockey League with the Philadelphia Flyers

He is a leftwinger, and has been in the league since the 1990-91 season. He was selected in the 2nd round of the 1990 NHL Entry Draft by the Hartford Whalers.

Sanderson has played for the Hartford Whalers, Carolina Hurricanes, Vancouver Canucks, Buffalo Sabres, and Columbus Blue Jackets, and the Phoenix Coyotes. For the 2003-2004 season, he returned to the Canucks. He was released from the Canucks following the 2003-2004 season, and was signed by the Blue Jackets again. At the beginning of the 2005 season, he was traded to Phoenix, with Tim Jackman, for Cale Hulse, Mike Rupp and Jason Chimera. He is known best for his goal scoring ability, which has allowed him to score 316 times in his career. Additionally, he has scored 30 or more goals in six different seasons. Sanderson boasts exceptional speed, which allows him to be effective despite his small size.

Sanderson played in the NHL All-Star game in 1994 and 1997.

He has yet to win a Stanley Cup, but did play in the 1999 finals.

He has a cousin who also plays in the NHL, Wade Brookbank, who plays for the Boston Bruins

On July 19th, 2006, the Philadelphia Flyers signed Geoff to a two year contract.
