Biography

Born on January 7, 1982 in Caracas, Distrito Federal (Venezuela), Francisco Rodriguez (Francisco Jose Rodriguez) played for the Anaheim Angels for his entire 5 year career. Rodriguez broke into the bigs on September 18, 2002 with the Anaheim Angels, and put up a 3.03 ERA in 86 innings pitched in 2003, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Francisco Rodriguez's best season was 2006, when he posted a 1.73 ERA, notched 47 saves and struck out 98 batters.

Has 13 siblings and was raised by his grandparents...Active in Angels' Wives Hospital Visits to UCI Medical Center...Returned home to Venezuela following the 2002 post-season and was welcomed as a National Hero...Was front-page news story in Venezuela throughout playoffs...Began pitching at age of seven at the Graciano Ravelo Baseball School in Caracas, VZ...Pitched for 1998 Venezuelan National Team at the Pan-American Youth Championship in Mexico...Attended Juan Lovera School in Venezuela...Signed with Angels four months shy of his 17th birthday in 1998...Originally signed by Angels scout George Lauzerique and former Scouting Director Bob Fontaine, Jr.
