Biography[]

Stephen Lee (born October 12, 1974) is an English professional snooker player from Trowbridge in Wiltshire, noted for his smooth cue action, which some pundits regard as the most natural in the game. Indeed, his cue action has been likened to a Rolls-Royce car. Lee is also distinguished by his unusually high weight and Ronnie O'Sullivan in his autobiography suggested that Lee had developed a food addiction due to the high pressures of the game.

Lee turned professional after winning the English Amateur Championship in 1992. He has been in or near the top 8 in the world rankings since 1999, but has only won four ranking tournaments, and has never progressed beyond the semi-final of the world championships.

In the 2006 Welsh Open he came in the competition outside the provisional top 16, after failing to win a ranking tournament for four years. He went on to win the tournament beating the world champion, Shaun Murphy 9-4 in the final.

During the 2006 World Championships at Sheffield, Lee attended a hairdressers in Sheffield prior to his first round match. Unfortunately for him and the viewing public, his usual hairdresser was on holiday. He entered into the Crucible with a most bizarre ginger spiked hairstyle that he hastily changed after his first round match.

Lee and his girlfriend Laura have four children.
