Logan Couture has agreed terms to a two-year contract extension reportedly worth $5.75 million with San Jose Sharks. The Center will become a restricted free agent after the coming season. He was drafted by the Sharks ninth overall in the 2007 NHL Draft.

San Jose general manager Doug Wilson said on the team's website that

"Logan is an excellent teammate and he proved it by committing to the team-first philosophy that we have instilled here”.

"Last season, as a rookie, he was a catalyst for our hockey club as one of our most consistent players. Over the last two postseasons, he has been one of our most reliable players. We're excited to see him build upon his early success and continue his growth over the next three seasons." He said.

He made his Debut against Philadelphia flyers on Oct 2009 and made his first goal in the league against Chris Osgood of the Detroit Red Wings on Now 2009. From that point till now He has 37 goals and 65 points in 104 career regular-season NHL games.

In the current deal, Couture will receive $2.75 million for the first year and then $3 million in Year 2. He is due to make about $1.25 million this season in the final year of his existing contract.

"It's tough to explain the feeling," Couture said in a conference call. "You realize that it's a lot of money for a 22-year-old kid to make playing hockey. It's an honor for me and my family to be rewarded with this kind of contract."
