Allister Carter, was born in Essex in England in 1979 and lives in Tiptree. Ali became a professional snooker player in 1996. He was close to the elite top 16 for 3 successive seasons, before reaching it after the 2005/2006 season. He has won one minor event, the Benson and Hedges Championship in 1999 - this earnt him a wild card place in the Masters. Experts regard him as a highly talented player who can beat anyone on his day - he has a decent record against Stephen Hendry in particular - but is prone to inconsistency.
