Baltimore Orioles starting pitcher Daniel Cabrera struck out seven in four innings of no-hit ball as the Dominican Republic beat Venezuela 2-1 tonight to advance to the semi-finals of the World Baseball Classic. Venezuela managed to get one hit off of Francisco Liriano. They did manage to load the bases against Duaner Sanchez in the top of the ninth, thanks to a Miguel Tejada error. With the count in his favor, Edgardo Alfonzo swung at a slider and hit a routine fly to right to end it. The loss eliminates Venezuela. Cuba and Puerto Rico face off on Wednesday to decide the other semifinalist from Pool 2.
