Copa Libertadores is the most prestigious club competition in the Americas. It is played by teams from South America, as well as teams from Mexico in recent years.

Argentina's Independiente is the most successful team, winning the title 7 times, followed by 5-times winners countrymates Boca Juniors and Peñarol of Uruguay.

Finals Results

Copa Libertadores uses a two-legged format. Until 1987, replay matches were used if the teams split the games. This is indicated with an asterisk (*). From 1988 on, an aggregate score is used
