April 2

The Indians opened the season on a losing note Sunday night. The White Sox won a rain-plagued game by a score of 10-4. The game was paused after the third inning for just under three hours due to the weather conditions, but did indeed resume. The game ended at 2:10 EDT.

Jim Thome, former Indian by way of Philadelphia, blasted a two-run home run off Fernando Cabrera after the game resumed. Thome's White Sox debut also included a second run scored and two walks.

Brandon McCarthy, pitching in relief (after the rain delay) for starter Mark Buehrle, took the win. Cabrera was tagged for the loss.

Not only did the Indians lose the game, but C.C. Sabathia suffered an abdominal injury and will be further evaluated on April 3rd.
