Bill Hewitt (William Ernest Hewitt) was born on October 8, 1909 in Bay City, Michigan. After going to high school at Central (Bay City, MI), Hewitt attended the University of Michigan. Hewitt made his professional debut in the NFL in 1932 with the Chicago Bears. He played for the Chicago Bears, Philadelphia Eagles and Philadelphia/Pittsburgh over the course of his 9 year career.
Most people believe that 1936 was Bill Hewitt's best year, as he caught 6 TD passes and ran back a fumble for a touchdown.
