From my blog:
"Welcome to Glendale, Arizona, where favorites fear to play! This is where upsets happen baby, right in the heart of University of Phoenix Stadium. You want an upset at a big event, look no further than Glendale, Arizona. You'll likely find one here."
Like my sales pitch? Nah... probably needs a little more work. Anyways, ever since the Arizona Cardinals have settled into their new home in the University of Phoenix Stadium, some crazy upsets have happened here. No, of course I'm talking about the Cardinals themselves, they suck too much. I'm talking about the big games that have happened here in the stadium: 2007 and 2008 Tostitos Fiesta Bowl, the 2007 BCS Championship Game, and of course the more recent Super Bowl XLII.
In its recent history, this stadium has been able to host many big football games. But this stadium could be haunted... to the favorite team at least. In the four big games that have been played there, they've all been upsets. Want proof? Here it is:
2007 Tostitos Fiesta Bowl: #9 Boise St Broncos defeat #8 Oklahoma Sooners: 43-42 2007 BCS Championship Game: #2 Florida Gators defeat #1 Ohio State Buckeyes: 41-14 2008 Tostitos Fiesta Bowl: #9 West Virginia Mountaineers defeat #3 Oklahoma Sooners: 48-28 Super Bowl XLII: New York Giants (12-6) defeat New England Patriots (18-0): 17-14
See a trend? Now I don't care if University of Phoenix bought out the name to the stadium for 20 years, I say the stadium needs to be renamed to Upset Stadium, effective immediately. And who knows, maybe the Arizona Cardinals will become a good team.
Nah... nothing in history can help their sorry ass.
