After the season that the Indiana Hoosier basketball program has had with the resignation of their head coach Kelvin Sampson and the near mutiny of the team after his departure, Arkansas' Sonny Weems and his Razorback teammates did them a favor and put them out of their misery, like Ol Yeller. Weems led all scorers with a career-high 31 points as Arkansas ended Indiana's season 86-72 in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament in Raleigh, North Carolina on the home floor of North Carolina State.
Weems was 12-14 from the field and 3-4 from the three-point arch en route to the win. Arkansas led 37-30 at the intermission and never looked back.
The Arkansas victory snapped a five-game losing streak in NCAA tournament games dating back to a first-round victory against Siena in 1999. D.J. White led Indiana, who may be on NCAA probation come June, with 22 points. Armon Bassett chipped in with 21.
