Former  County boss Jim Gannon is having a tough as Motherwell manager after just three games at the Fir Park.

A Europa League qualifying defeat to minnows Llanelli was rectified with a comprehensive second leg display, but they slumped again last night in the stifling heat of Albania.Temperatures of 38 degrees also wore down the Steelmen, who lost 1-0 and must now concentrate on next Thursday’s second leg clash at Airdrie’s home ground. It has been a baptism of fire for Gannon, who was regarded as one of the brightest young managers in England after guiding County to promotion in 2008. However, he has an opportunity to carve out a name for himself north of the border, but knows his charges will need to progress past Albanian opposition next week to start the ball rolling ahead of the forthcoming SPL campaign.
