Euro 2008 is in its quarter final stage and there is one team there that has surprised all, Russia. One just has to look at the man(Guus Hiddink) in charge and then all of a sudden it wouldn't be surprising. He has many causing upsets and surprises in a major tournament every time. Through out his managing career he has made some remarkable moves that has brought him laurels from all over the world. He is best known for his treble win with PSV Eindhoven, the dutch giants. He also a led a South Korean team to fourth place in the 2002 FIFA World Cup (even though refereeing is debatable). Then in the 2006 edition of the World Cup, he took Australia to the second round and they had qualified for the finals after 32 years, at the expense of giants Uruguay. Now he is in the quarter finals of EURO 2008 with Russia. Its not the feats that he has accomplished, it is the teams he has done it with. Okay so PSV are Dutch giants in the Eredivisie but it still takes a lot to stay on top. But what about South Korea, Australia and Russia. No Giants by any means. He also took Holland to the 1998 Finals for a fourth place finish. Russia also qualified for EURO 2008 at the expense of heavyweights England. He has won 11 titles with PSV (league and domestic and European cups) and an intercontinental cup as manager of Real Madrid. He has been awarded the Rinus Michels Award twice. Any team he seems to take over does something unexpected. Now with Russia taking on Holland in the Quarters I'd definitely give them an outside chance. Oh and just by the way he speaks Dutch, English, French, German, Japanese, Korean and Spanish and naturally is currently learning Russian. All I can say is What A Man.
