Brett Favre and the rest of the starters for both teams got the night off tonight in Philadelphia as the Jets and Eagles wrapped up the preseason on Thursday night. The Jets won 27-20, when Jesse Chatman broke the 20-20 tie with a 2 yard TD run late in the fourth quarter.
Jesse Chatman amassed 180 yards in total offense, including 93 rushing yards on 29 carries that included the game winning TD.
As far as the battle for backup QB, Erik Ainge got the bulk of the work, going 10-16 131 yards and a 3rd quarter TD pass to David Ball. Brett Ratliff also threw a TD pass, 11 yards to Paul Raymond, and went 3-4 for 48 yards and the TD. Kellen Clemens had the worst of it going 3-8 for 18 yards, serving as the game's starter. Whether this changes the depth chart behind Brett Favre remains to be seen.
The stage is set for a Jets rematch with old friend Chad Pennington, week 1, September 7 in Miami.
