Number 7 Texas (22-4, 9-2 in Big 12) started scoring early and often, avenging an 80-63 loss to their in-state rivals Texas A&M tonight in Austin. This time, it was the Aggies the victims of the wrath of the Horns as they downed A&M 77-50 on Monday night for the Longhorns' sixth straight win. Texas started the contest at the Erwin Center with a 16-4 run and never looked back. Texas has now won 9 of their last ten games, despite head coach Rick Barnes suffering from the flu. Barnes was not present for the team's shoot around Monday, according to ESPN.

Sophomore guard D.J. Augustin scored 27 points for the Horns to lead all scorers in the game and was dazzling in the first half, nearly outscoring A&M by himself with 17 points as Texas built a 39-18 lead. A&M, who lost at home to Oklahoma State Saturday afternoon, was held to 19 percent shooting in the first half and their lowest scoring output of the season. The Aggies have now lost 6 straight games to Texas in Austin.

Sophomore guard-forward Damion James added 15 points and nine rebounds for Texas, which has used the winning streak to earn a tie for first in the Big 12 witih Kansas, also 9-2 in league play. Junior guard-forward and Dallas native Josh Carter scored 11 points to lead A&M, which trailed by 20 points almost the entire second half.
