Some good news and not so good news from the front office today. I'll hit ya with the good news first.
Despite initially being snubbed in the All-Star voting, Evgeni Malkin has been voted into Sid's spot for his first career All-Star appearance. Whereas I initially wrote about Sid and fellow teammates having some tension, now I suppose it's the same with Malkin and Ovechkin. Can the former Olympic roomies make amends after Malkin laid him out into the boards on Monday night?
Now for the not so good news. Sid was evaluated again earlier today and it has been confirmed that he does in fact have a high ankle sprain. Depending on how you look at it, this could be good news. After all, it's nothing more serious. It will, however, still keep him out of the lineup for at least six weeks. For comparison's sake, Fleury has been out with the same injury since the first week of December. At this point it looks like he's heading into his second month of the IR. According to some sources, he's even behind on physical therapy and recovery.
Either way; in Conklin we stand, in Malkin we trust.
The Penguins are 0-1-1 since Crosby was injured last Friday.
Try 1-1-1. Thanks.
