The New York Yankees are WORLD Champions again for the 27th time by defeating the Philadelphia Phillies 7-3. Andy Pettitte picked up his second win of the World Series, and Pedro Martinez took the loss. Hideki Matsui tied a World Series record of 6 RBI's that was set in 1960 by second baseman Bobby Richardson.

Matsui also became the first DH to be named the MVP of the World Series. 27 Championships might be a record that might never be broken by an other team, except the Yankees who will shoot for number 28 in 2010. We shall see.
