Kentucky Middle School Football Association FBU 2010 All-American Bowl Player Selection The Kentucky Middle School Football Association ("KYMSFA") is very pleased to announce players selected from the Commonwealth of Kentucky by Football University to play in the 2010 All-American Bowl which will be held at the Alamo Dome on January 10, 2009. The players listed below represent some of the finest middle school football players the Commonwealth has to offer. The KYMSFA is proud to have players selected from its members. 7th " 7th Grade Defensive End Selection - OLB/DE 7th Grade Frankfort #32 Jalen Acree (2009 KYMSFA All-State Team - 8th Grade Div II at DE), KYMSFA Playoff Defensive MVP 2009, FBU Select Camp-Nashville 2009 LB, 2009 FBU Top Gun-LB, All City, Defensive Player of the Year, Honor Student. Coach Hawkins commented that: " It's not often that a 7th grader has the ability and strength to be a productive player on an 8th grade team. Jalen is not only productive, but physically imposing as well. Jalen plays each game with intensity and desire. He plays both sides of the ball and rarely leaves the field. Jalen finished his first year of Middle School football with 12 sacks and 15 tackle for loss. Acree is one of the most humble players I have coached. When we need a defensive stop, or an extra yard, he is dependable. Jalen has made his family and community proud by being a honor student as well." " 7th Grade Wide Receiver Selection - WR/LB 7th Grade Raceland # 1 Connor Messer (2009 KYMSFA Honorable Mention to All-State Team - 7th Grade at RB and at LB) (2009 FBU Top Gun - Receivers), (2009 FBU Select Camp - Nashville - Recs); Northeastern Kentucky All-Conference Team; KYMSFA Playoff Offensive MVP 2009; KYMSFA Playoff Defensive MVP 2009; "Standout Athlete" of 2009 by Standout Athletes @ www.standoutathletes.org ; Coach Francis commented that: "Connor Messer is a very talented player, and he is a harder worker than he is talented. Messer has great skills and great athletic ability. He can do about anything you need on a football field. Messer is a one-man gang. Messer can cover the other team's fastest receiver, come up and take on an offensive tackle, on third down he can get you a sack, and then on fourth he'll return the punt for a touchdown. Messer has a high football IQ. Offensive is easy, just put the ball in Messer's hands and get out of the way. Messer can run, catch, take the snap, lead block, whatever you need. Connor Messer is a special player and the best I've coached." " 7th Grade Running Back Selection - RB/LB 7th Grade Lone Oak #25 Rasheed Jones (2009 KYMSFA All-State Team - 8th Grade Div II at LB), KYMSFA Playoff Defensive MVP 2009, played on the 2009 7th Grade Kentucky Middle School State Runner-Up with a 12-1 record; He was voted the Team Defensive MVP for the year and also played on the 8th grade team; Rasheed's nickname is Pooh which he goes by most of the time; His Parents are Michael and Nichole Jones; he has four brothers, Michael (21), Chaz (20), De'Vharius (12) and Quamea (10,) and he has one sister D'anne (19); His brother Michael plays college football at Southeast Missouri State and his brother Chaz plays Rugby at Western Kentucky University; His Coach, Coach White says "Rasheed is a great football player but an even better person. He has the best instincts at middle linebacker that I have ever coached. He plays downhill and only one speed which is full out and is a very physical hitter. He has never been one ounce of trouble and refuses to be outworked by anyone. He is a natural leader and every player respects him not from his mouth but by his actions and his will of refusing to lose. He is a good student and will succeed in whatever he does. It will be a very sad when he moves on to the high school. He will represent his team and school with pride in the All-American Bowl."
