Stuart Clark put on a display of superb fast bowling to guide Australia to victory in the first test. West Indies needed another 247 to win with 9 wickets in hand at the start of play but Clark made sure the Windies were going nowhere. He struck early reducing the home team to 82 for 6 from 46/1. A slight resistance by the lower order, Ramdin(36) Powell(35) and Sammy (27) could only make the defeat look more respectable as they were 191 all out and ended up losing by 95 runs. Clark took 5 wickets this innings and his over all haul of 8 wickets in the match earned him the man of the match.
