The 2006 World Series is scheduled to begin play on October 21, 2006 and will take place between the winners of the 2006 American League Championship Series and the winners of the 2006 National League Championship Series in Major League Baseball. The locations and venues will be determined by whoever wins those respective series, but home-field advantage of the Series has not yet been determined. It is unclear whether the practice that was in place during the last three Major League Baseball All-Star Games will be in place—the winning league of the All-Star Game receiving the home-field advantage in the World Series. It will be televised by FOX and the announcers will most likely be Joe Buck and Tim McCarver. With FOX's exclusive six year contract due to expire after the conclusion of this World Series, it is (as of April 8, 2006) unknown whether or not FOX will televise any more World Series in the foreseeable future.
