Your Favorite Stadium / Arena?

13
Vote

by user Christof

So it is a slow Friday morning. It is time to get things hopping.

So what is your favorite stadium / arena to watch sports. Here are mine:

  • Baseball - Citizens Bank Park, Philadelphia
  • Football - Lincoln Financial Field, Philadelphia
  • Hockey - Wachovia Spectrum, Philadelphia
  • Basketball - Palestra, Philadelphia

What about you?

Has to be The Dunkin Donuts Arena, home of my Providence Friars! Mostly because of the name, but also due to the fact that they sell booze at a college game

Have you ever left Philly? :) I can't say I have a big preference given one stadium over another, but I don't like watching baseball in a dome (although I only watched BP in a dome, and it was in Montreal), and hated the small seats at Fenway.

Yeah, if you sit in the grandstand seats at Fenway(the blue seats) it is awful if you are over 6 feet tall. I am 6'3 and go to many sox games and I have only sat there once because someone gave me the tickets and it is brutal. However, if you have a box seat, it is fine, and is probably one of the best atmospheres in all of sports.

Most fellow British Ice Hockey fans like the name "Gaylord Entertainment Centre." Always brings a laugh...

I have left Philly. I have seen games played in NY, NJ, MD, DE, FL, NE, and Toronto. I'll grant you, it was a close call between Giants Stadium and the Linc, but the home site still won. :)

PNC Park in Pittsburgh is great for baseball, as is San Francisco's ballpark(AT&T Stadium now, right?).

Football...it's not even close, Lambeau Field is the greatest football stadium ever, and its the most historic too. How can you argue with the stadium that's named after the guy who FOUNDED the NFL? Nothing can even compare to the Frozen Tundra. Wrigley Field in the same respect, I enjoyed a game there (with my hardhat of course) more than I do at Miller Park, although Miller Park is an amazing ballpark. I've only been to basketball games at the Metrodome, the Bradley Center, and the U.S. Cellular Arena (UW-Milwaukee) and none of these are that great, so I'll defer, and I don't watch hockey.

It's a tough choice for me for baseball...There's the one-of-a-kind Fenway Park with the atmosphere. McCoy Stadium, the minor league park of the Pawtucket Red Sox, where there's no such thing as a bad seat and tickets are very cheap. And Camden Yards, the nicest and most modern park I've seen, but the hometown fans need to be told when to cheer and they're drowned out by the fans of the visitors. I think I have to go with Fenway. It may be old and uncomfortable, but there's nothing like taking in a game in Boston.

Pean, a bit off topic, but the center of the donut is often the best part. The jelly in a jelly donut is a little blob of heaven.

I'm partial to AT&T Park. That place has the perfect blend of clean, modern facilities while still retaining an old school feel. There isn't a bad seat in the house and the views of the Bay are great. On the flipside, Candlestick is the exact opposite...old, dirty, and cold.

Shea Stadium has to be the worst baseball park, even though I am a Mets fan, and Fenway Stadium in Boston is a great intimiate park. There are very few bad seats in that house.

I love Fenway because of the history but it kinda sucks because there are so many support beams that obstruct views. I'm also partial to PNC, the Horseshoe, and Nationwide Arean (Blue Jackets). The overall experience at Nationwide is second to none. Except for the fact that the team sucks!

With Monument Park, the short right field porch, and the greenest grass I've ever seen I go with Yankee Stadium for baseball. For football you have to love the Horseshoe here in Columbus. Few stadiums in the nation can boast 100,000+ fans and to see them all chant and cheer in unison is overwhelming. And although the team has struggled, Nationwide Arena, home of the Blue Jackets, is a superb hockey venue.

As a Sox fan, I'm partial to Fenway Park, but PNC is also very nice, as is Camden Yards. I think Citizens Bank Park is terrible, not just because of the terrible corporate names, but I hate parks that favor hitters too much. Steak, if you like McCoy (and I do, too) you should truck up to Portland some time and check out the Sea Dogs and Hadlock Field. Very nice little park. I think too much is made of obstruction in Fenway; unless you have season tickets in an obstructed area (and then you've probably chosen that!) the odds of your view actually being obstructed are incredibly low.

If you want to see a nice little minor league park, you should check out the Greenville Drive in South Carolina. It is the low A affilliate of the Red Sox. They just built a new stadium, and it is a mini replica of Fenway Park. Really great minor league experience.

i think the best stadium in the world is the Melbourne Cricket Ground because the atmosphere is amazing when austrlia play someone. oh and by the way cricket is a better sport then american football and baseball because there is no baseball or american football ground that have a capacity over 100,000 people
