Video of the Day (23/12/06) - Who needs ovals?

The 1979 French Grand Prix at Dijon Prenois. Gilles Villeneuve (in the red Ferrari) and Rene Arnoux (in the yellow Renault) at their best. Nobody cared that Jean-Pierre Jabouille had won his first race, and the first race for new manufacturer Renault... You would never get this excitement at an oval, anywhere. This is why road courses are better than ovals. All this in the last three laps...

While that was great, I would have to think of you as something of a racing snob if you can't see anything great about ovals. When good, road courses races are really good, but when they're bad, well... I think ovals are more consistent at providing very close finishes. If you'd oblige, read my reply.
