Speedway is a traditionally minority sport in Britain.
It has a dedicated following however, in the few areas it is popular. It is a sport dominated by the United States, Australia, and Eastern Europe.
The main attraction of Speedway is its uniqueness - the bikes have no brakes or steering wheels, they stop the bikes by putting their feet down on the dirt and sliding around the corner.
The British Speedway Grand Prix has existed since 1995, and the last British winner of any Grand Prix was in 2000.
At the end of a long evening, the Final of the 2007 British Grand Prix came down to a Brit who had surpassed many expectations, Chris Harris, an American, Greg Hancock, and Australians Jason Crump and Leigh Adams. Harris was by rights fourth best.
But infront of a raucous home crowd of more than 50,000 at the Millennium Stadium, anything was possible.
