[edit] The Superbowl Shuffle - The 1985 Chicago Bears

"We're not here to start no trouble. We're just here to do the Super Bowl Shuffle." Indeed, the '85 Bears had reason to dance the Super Bowl Shuffle as they went 15-1 that year in the regular season, and 3-0 en route to becoming the champions. With players such as Mike Singletary at MLB and Sweetness at RB, the Bears were, however, trouble for everyone. Payton and QB Jim McMahon were unable to attend the original filming of the song's music video, so they were edited in later with help of a chroma key. The video may be viewed here.

[edit] 1986 New York Mets - Let's Go Mets!

An obvious knockoff of the Chicago Bears' 1985 hit, "Let's Go Mets!" was a gold record in 1986 and the video went triple platinum. The most memorable of events from the 1986 World Series was the Bill Buckner fiasco, which helped make the Curse of the Bambino more well known, and in turn helped bring the Mets their first World Series title in 17 years.

[edit] Who Dey? - Cincy Bengals

Who Dey, Who Dey, Who Dey think gonna beat them Bengals? Apparently, Bill Cowher last year, but...that's irrelavent. The "Who-Dey" chant is bellowed from Bengals fans everywhere as a sign of dominence and superiority. When Cincinnati made the playoffs a few years back, the Hudepohl beer company jumped on the "Who Dey" bandwagon with their own version in Hu Dey Beer. Carmen Electra reportedly tattooed the phrase on her ankle. "Who Dey" is also the name of the 6'-5" 227 pound Bengal mascot. The chant may be viewed here, at around :26 secondss

[edit] The Rock ft. Wyclef Jean and Melky Sedeck - It Doesn't Matter

The Rock rose to prominence by just being himself. In fact, in an interview, he made it clear that he would rather be hated than loved, but his personality and antics attracted a large fanbase. One of his favorite things to do is ask someone a question, such as their name then reply with, for example, "It Doesnt Matter What Your Name Is!" The song was released during the "Attitude Era" of the WWF, arguably the time when The Rock was the most popular. Wyclef Jean released the song on his second album, The Ecleftic. The video can be seen here.

[edit] The Rock ft. Wyclef Jean - Pie

...One of the most popular personalities The Rock would portray is someone who loved pie, and would ask others if they liked pie as well. Apparently, he figured his success with the act would translate into a number one hit...but he was wrong. An entire 3:44 dedicated to pie just doesn't "cut it" (no pun intended). The song can be heard as the second song on the list here.

No, I'm serious. This actually was an album!

[edit] NBA Players Rapping

Believe it or not, NBA players are singers as well! Don't be misled, I said "singers", not "good singers". In 2000, Allen Iverson or "Jewels" as he is known amongst the rap community, recorded a rap album named 40 Bars. However, after being criticized for its controversial lyrics, he eventually was unable to release it. The album was alleged to have made derogatory remarks about homosexuals. Not convinced? Shaq has his own repertoire of records: Shaq Diesel, Shaq Fu – Da Return,You Can't Stop the Reign, Respect and, believe it or not, The Best of Shaquille O'Neal. Other NBA/Rappers include Kobe Bryant (K.O.B.E.), Chris Webber (Too Much Drama), and even Spurs G Tony Parker has tried sticking his hand in the rap pool as well.

[edit] Ron Artest - His Rap Album

Ron Artest has a hectic schedule, and actually asked his coach for time off. Among other reasons cited, the most outstanding reason was: to work on his album. Here is a picture from the infamous interview in which Artest tried to promote his CD.

There you have it. More times than not, it is best for an athlete to just stick to what he does best, and not attempt to woo us over with their dazling voices. Now, if you'll excuse me, I am going to go do the SuperBowl Shuffle.
