Dan and I currently have the following idea about how to conduct our auction-draft. The goals were:
We need it to happen fast!
We want it to still maintain the open-market economics of a draft.
The idea (Dan's idea actually), in summary:
Day 1: Everyone puts up 4 players for auction, putting 32 players in the first pool. Everyone puts in a silent bid on each player (if they want).
Day 2:
We reveal the bids on the first pool and open it up to a second silent bid.
Everyone puts in another 4 player, creating the second pool. Bidding is open on the second pool, too.
Day 3:
Repeat day 2, adding another pool and allowing for third-round bids (the final round) on pool one and second-round bids on pool two.
Day 4 through 7: Repeat until we've done our 200 players. I think six rounds does it and the 7th is an optional round to add in fillers.
So, that being said and explain, how comfortable are we with this idea? Can we move forward with it to get this league started? Please feel free to discuss and provide feedback in the comments below. Thanks!
I'd love it if we could start ASAP. If we could start tomorrow, that'd work best. But if it's in the next few days, I'm fine with that.
I love the format
I agree. That will depend on how fast we can get everyone back to agree on the draft format and get started. Then we quickly have to pick a short time of day we can be online at the same time as Alex (not too later for him, not too early for us).
from tuesday-friday, I'm open from 1:30-3:00 PM, and then from 7:30 till as late as necessary. Saturday, I'm open all afternoon, and all day Sunday and then the same hours as this week monday
noted and fixed. Sorry for the confusing schedule, it's just I've got something in the Morning all this week, then Football in the Afternoon; plus football all Saturday morning. After that, School Starts for me the next tuesday
The only difficult thing I foresee is that we'll want to try to be online at the same time within some half-hour period each day so that everybody can pick the four players they put up. We all have to be ready to choose backups because with four at a time per owner, somebody is going to overlap your choices.
And on another note I apologize for how long this is taking. Dan and I would both love to see this league get off the ground but it seems neither of us have an abundance of free time, so we're doing our best to push it along. Once we get you guys involved in the discussion of, and the draft itself we should start cruising along just fine and all of you will be helping it along :)
