Top 10 Reasons Why Red Sox Fans Can Take A Deep Breath/Be Excited

The lead on the Yankees is now four games. They just swept the Indians. Eric Gagne looks like Eric GagMe (or Eric Gone-ne, which ever one you like better). Francona has made some sketchy moves over the past few games. Even Okajima looked surprisingly human on Friday.
I'm a glass-half-full kinda gal. I tend to see the bright side of things. Going down the stretch, here are 10 reasons why a) I refuse to panic and b) I will enjoy the pennant race in the AL East.
10) Gagne looks exactly like Penn Gilette, the magician. He looks like a magician. The magic just hasn't happened yet. I have to believe he'll staighten himself out (hopefully in a non-close game).
9) Terry Francona isn't an idiot. He has his brain farts like everyone, but other than a few blips, he has done a fantastic job with this team so far. I see no reason why he won't continue his good managing. He learned his lesson yesterday, he'll handle the heat.
8) How many times has the bullpen blown a game this season? By my count, four. One of Paps' blown saves, Eric Chavez' walkoff homer off of Kyle Snyder a couple months ago, and twice this weekend. That's a lot less than most other major league teams. This is still the best bullpen in baseball.
7) Just when it seems like nothing could go right, the Devil Rays come to town. The Yankees have to deal with those pesky Orioles and Jeremy Guthrie.
6) September callups: Jacoby Ellsbury should be flying around the basepads soon, and word on the street is Mr. Untouchable Clay Buchholz could be making his major-league debut this Friday in the doubleheader against the Angels.
5) The final two Red Sox-Yankees series will be absolutely bananas. And, unlike last year, there is no potential for a five-game sweep. Unless one team takes all six games. Don't lie; Sox-Yanks is infinitely better when everything is on the line.
4) Schilling looked like his almost normal self yesterday. Six innings, one run, five hits, but no walks and no strikeouts. Weird. He's our third best starter right now. When the playoffs roll around, he's still one of the best there is.
3) There's this wonderful thing called the Wild Card. Even if the Red Sox lose the division, they still have the best chance of anyone of getting the Wild Card. Cleveland is sliding and Seattle is overachieving. Boston is the best team of those three.
2) Keep saying this to yourself: Schilling-Beckett-Matsuzaka. You'll feel better, trust me. That's what we got in for a three-man rotation in the playoffs. For my money, that's the best of all the teams in playoff contention right now.
1) WE STILL HAVE A LEAD. It's still the biggest lead any team has in a division in MLB. I know four games seems like a 1/2 game, considering we were up by 14 1/2 on May 29, but still, we have a lead.
Call me crazy. call me ignorant, call me whatever you want. One thing I know for pretty sure: Both the Red Sox and Yankees will be playing in October. Who says that's a bad thing?
