Here is the first ever weekend rant. Enjoy!
7. USC's Josh Pinkard got arrested on suspicion of drunk driving a few weeks ago. I was really surprised to see the lack of publicity it got. Usually the Los Angeles Times is really looking to bash the Men of Troy in anyway they can.
6. Kobe has been pretty silent this week in terms of demanding a trade. I have two possible theories. David Stern is paying him not to take any attention away from the NBA Finals. Or, Dr. Buss just gave the little baby a pacifier.
5. The Galaxy suck! They spent all of their money on Beckham and haven't even thought about building a team capable of winning the MLS Cup. Maybe they should stop worrying about sponsorship and T.V. deals.
4. How painful was it for L.A. Kings fan to watch the Ducks win it all. The Kings have been in L.A. since 1963 and the Ducks were born in 1994. It only took fourteen years for the Ducks while Kings fan still await their first Cup. Sadly, they are not even close to the playoffs.
3. The Dodgers are beginning to struggle. They got swept by the Padres in a series where they scored a combined eight runs in the series. Five in the final game. Its just power they lack. They don't have that much team speed outside of Furcal and Pierre. They also don't have too much youth outside of Russell Martin and Andre Eithier.
2. The Angels are for real! All bias aside this is an Angels team that can make it to the World Series, better known as the ALCS. Their pitching is really been superb and that is what wins games in the playoffs. However, its the offense that has been equally impressive. The young guns, Reggie Willits, Mike Napoli, and Casey Kotchman, are all carrying around hot bats these days. Vladimir Guerrero has been his usual dominant self. While everybody is surely contributing, its Gary Matthews Jr. that is making his critics eat crow. Right now he is batting just under .300 with 38 RBIs and 37 runs. The Halos are getting contributions from everywhere in the lineup, and if this keeps up watch out folks.
1. The Ducks win the Cup! I was surprised by all of the support of the Ducks during these playoffs. The Honda Center was filed to capacity for every single playoff game. They have really built a nice fan base here in Southern California. These Ducks aren't going away. They return everybody on the team. Although, Teamue Salemme is considering retirement. They are composed of many young players, a stifling defense, and a shut down goalie. This might be the first of many titles in Anaheim.
