Hello everyone! Welcome to The Rant with your host, Ufgators. In this column we will take a look at the good and bad from the week in the sports world and the real world. Will I make another Regis reference? Who knows! Without further ado, lets take a look at the week in review!
- Last Comic Standing was a total waste of my time this year. It had huge expectations from not only me, but countless other comedy fans. The contestants were considerably less funny than in previous seasons. If you want a good laugh, check out former contestant Jay London's quotes.
- Nothing to report on the America's Got Talent front, as I fell asleep watching the show. Yes, the show has gotten so bad that it actually induces sleep in me. As we all know, "The Reege" reads my column, so lets all give suggestions on how we can improve an otherwise horrible, annoying show with a million commercials.
- Jason Avant was reduced to tears after Eagles RB Bruce Perry was carried off on a stretcher with 1:14 remaining, his head immobilized. He was tackled by rookie Timi Wusu on a running play. It was great to see that Avant cared so much about his teammate, as on numerous occasions, the camera cut to him praying and wishing Perry a speedy recovery. Meanwhile, Donovan McNabb looked like he couldn't have cared less. Andy Reid said that Perry had a concussion and a team spokesman informed that X-rays of Perry's neck were negative. A CT scan also was normal and the team expected Perry to accompany them back to Pennsylvania.
- Matt Leinart is the lone first-rounder that still hasn't signed a contract with the team that drafted him. Granted, Leinart was offered less guaranteed money than Jay Cutler, but he is still bitter about being picked tenth. Anything less than first/second pick money and Leinart will feel like he's getting jobbed. Leinart better start acting like a man and sign a contract. An announcer at the H.O.F. Game said that the game has changed significantly over the years. It used to be: play, or be out of a job! Now, its play if you want...we'll still pay you a bajillion dollars! It is no longer an athlete's job to play football, but rather a game. When your options are play or be out of a job and starve, you tend to play your hardest. Now, as Jamal Lewis informed us, players need to take it easy so they can get that big contract next year!
- Maurice Clarett : You are an idiot! You carried a bottle of Grey Goose Vodka, a bullet-proof vest, and four guns, and were headed towards the house of the lady who was going to testify against you. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? "Even after he was placed in the paddy wagon, he was still kicking at the doors and being a problem for the officers." As we all know, the paddy wagon is a place you don't want to be.
- Manny Stiles just started a phenomenon. If you haven't checked this article, you must, or else you'll be left wondering what the heck the rest of the site is talking about. An example of this is: Oooooh! Ryan Leaf!
- This article may be best suited for an IGN.com message board, but I think the users here are all Madden fans. If you have the game, I suggest doing a fantasy draft, and then posting the first 20 or so picks with analysis in an article. Hey, it passes the time if you're waiting for Madden '07.
Thus ends the weekly rant. I hope you have enjoyed reading it as much as I did writing it. Take care everyone, and have a great, sports-filled weekend. Click Here To Be My Friend
