Stars continue domination of the Kings, leads at Staples Center 2-0 after 20 minutes of play:
Boucher Goal:
-Early Momentum Changer, which is great for a team going through an offensive slump.
-Another Goal from a Blueliner, as the defenseman continues his point streak (3-2-5) in his last four games. If you include all of December, Boucher has recorded nine points in December (5-4-9) in eight games.....
Barnes Goal:
-Stars have a +10 Goal Differential vs. the Kings this Season in the 1st Period....... Note to the Kings: You will need to pick up your game after the initial puckdrop vs. Dallas, or else you might not win a game against the Stars this season.
-Barnes scores, giving the first goal for a Stars forward in a week worth of games. For a team in a slump, that's a great sign. Also, Barnes scored a goal from in front of the net, which is another positive sign. For the last three games, all the goals have come from the blueline. On this goal, Barnes found wide open space in front of the net and got a great feed from Halpern, pounding the puck in the back of the net....
Kings going after Boucher:
If you look at the Point Streak he's on, legally pounding Boucher is not a shock. And yet, I'm not shocked this isn't working as the Kings just don't have the talent or game to break through their 1st period woes vs. Dallas.
Barry Brust in goal for the Kings:
Hmm.... This could be target practice for the visitors..... Here's my thoughts during the Second Period:
Kings Goalie Names:
-Barry Brust
-Yutaka FukuFuji
Sounds like someone had fun with a game of Boggle for the Kings when scouting/Drafting these players
Kings get on the Board, cut the lead to 1 with a Power Play Goal:
-What a dissection of the Stars Penalty Killers..... Brown scores an easy goal as the Kings put together a string of passes and find Brown in front of the net uncontested.....
-Note to All NHL Players..... Stopping telegraphing your penalties and stop try to act like nothing happened. As Bad as Daley's penalty was, as he reached out to grab a Kings player, earning a penalty, putting his hands up saying , "I Did Nothing" validated the referees call....
Stars need a Momentum Changer In the 3rd period, Perhaps Matthew Barnaby will discard the mitts and chuck knuckles with a King....If that happens, he will need to avoid Tom Koustopoulos, as Steve Ott injured his ankle in the last game at AAC with the Kings when those two squared off.
Finally, Mike Smith was demoted to Iowa, but was forced to come back after Dan Ellis couldn't fly to today's game to LA. Thus, giving up two soft goals versus the Rangers and getting little offensive support was enough of a reason for Stars management to pull off the move.
The question is, will Smith be demoted again or will they look at the forwards who couldn't score on Thursday and demote them instead.....
Moving Smith seems to be a knee jerk move.... Oh Well. I'm sure Stars GM Doug Armstrong knows what he's doing.... Here's my thoughts on the Stars/Kings, 3rd Period with this one going to OT.....
Kings Tied It Up At Two:
-Kings continue to beat the Stars early in the 3rd period as the home team presses for the win. Stars needs to change momentum in this game or else they will lose their 4th game in a row.
-Avery scores as the Kings take advantage of a odd man chance, leaving a 2 on 1 where Avery was better then Turco, beating him with a wrister and tying the game.
Kings Take the Lead on Another Power Play Goal:
-After having a goal waved off for a hand pass, Rob Blake redeemed himself, pouncing on a rebound that gives the Kings their first lead of the game. After Sean Avery sent a slapper that Marty Turco couldn't handle, Blake charged the net and got the goal he was looking for.
-On Friday Night at Staples Center, the Lakers beat a Texas Team in double overtime, after coming back from a huge deficit to the Rockets. Could the same thing happen today as well....
Stars tie it up on the Power Play......
-Stars captain Brenden Morrow scores a goal for the first time in nearly a month, as he gets a fortunate deflection that goes into the net.
-Stars finally mark the score sheet with the power play...... They may not win the special team battle, but at least they used their power play to earn a point in the standings.....
OT Coming Up..... Can't Wait... The Dallas Stars defeat the Los Angeles Kings, winning 4-3 at Staples Center. After failing to score in a five minute Overtime Period, Both team went to the shootout to determine a winner.
After Marty Turco made three saves and Mike Ribeiro scored the only goal of the shootout, the Stars snapped their three game losing streak and kept their season series perfect, winning every game versus the Kings this season.
Thus, if the Stars go another losing streak, look to see if Phoenix or Los Angeles as those two teams are the last victims of the Stars this season.
Also, Shootouts are fun and make the game exciting. I would like to see the NHL extend shootout to 5 rounds......
Next Game: Stars play at Anaheim on Wednesday....
