Steel Town's Board
True. I was actually shocked to see anyone accusing the Pats of running it up. In my mind, we left about 20 points on the field. It was Apollo Creed vs. Ivan Drago out there.
Nothing "black helicopter" about how baseball manages its public face. It has lied for years. The Dodgers and Giants were moved to California to squash the post-war Pacific Coast League's ambitions of becoming a third major league. Read up on Clarence "Pants" Rowland's stewardship of the PCL. At the winter meetings of 2007 just before the Mitchell Report was released, those attending the Rule V Draft were treated to the usual reel of great achievements of the year. The single biggest record in the game was broken by Bonds, allegedly. He got less than 7 seconds of the reel, simply doffing his cap with his back to the camera. That was it. At that point, most baseball Kremlinologists took that to mean exactly what it did. MLB took the money from his home run chase, and was going to slowly disavow any knowledge of Bonds, and not provide him a place to play. Come Spring 2008, that bellwether proved to be right on the money.
When fans wake up and realize how badly they are being played for suckers, things might change. Right now, the powers-that-be at MLB call the tunes, and the media and the fans dance along.
The reason that we wrote that piece on Selig shattering the rules was that Manny's playing in the minor leagues made no sense. Major Leaguers in the minors do major league time. Both the rule book and the CBA say so. It is amazing, and sad, that we were the only reporters to go digging into the MLR, the CBA and the drug deal to find out how bald-faced Selig and his people were about cherry-picking the rules and deals to do whatever pleases the players and keeps the owners turnstiles humming.
If there are no rules, then what validity has any record in the sport?
They count on fans being smug and tuning it out.
They should send you a thank you note.
Debates are here. FP is trying to figure out how to make it easier. He has no access to the coding for the front page so we are at the mercy of the Wiki people to do the coding.
Yes and it sounds very good. Just not as good as a sitdown listening to vinyl. I live near a little audio buiz. I'm in there way too much but listening to Jimi on a nice Rotel amp/preamp set up with a few magnepan speakers was terrific!
What a game, can you believe it!! Number 6 for PIT! Holmes had a monster night. Can't ask for a better game.
I actually think we're playing like crap. Barely beat the lowly Islanders, let the Blues stay with us for 3 periods, then crapped the bed at the end, and fell behind 3-1 to Toronto. But 2 points is 2 points.
Just go to this link... invite as many as you can! ;)
2 ways
A) Upload the picture and then put that in the comment - the image wiki data will be on the screen when you upload...this works pretty well
B) go the to image from the webpage. you have to use the image URL (like this
) and not just the website itself..that also works. If you do a google image search and get to the page with just the image, that should work
try the sandbox first
O man your not kidding. If than can develop Tuuka Rask better than they did with Raycroft I think he is the man. They played great with Corsby and Malkin, Bergeron looks real strong and should resume his rise to be one of the best players in hockey I can't wait. I see a budding rivalry between the Bruins and Penguins too.
remember to close it with a forward slash (b)bold(/b) the slash undoes (is that a word?) it. Use carats instead of parenths.
I was only showing off a little. ;-)
Remember what I told you about using the letter "i" for italics?
b=bold
u=underline
s=strikethrough
Indeed truly disappointing. But the season is still young. The Flightless Ones need to start scoring at even strength.
Thanks man ... I didn't plan on writing anything yesterday and boom, Shelton's right there. Couldn't not throw something small up about it.
One of my best friends went to Mt. Lebo, so I had to throw the plug in there.
That was a great game. We looked pretty sloppy on offense at times, but as usual our defense came out and got the job done in the end. WOOH! First place! On to Jacksonville we go. Hopefully we'll get Parker back.
Sweet, never been to Cincy. I'm going to the Steelers/Skins monday night game in D.C. on November 3rd, and then the Steelers/Ravens game on December 14th in Baltimore. I am really pumped about all that. And yeah, the games against Cincinnati won't even be a contest.
