It's ok. It was through reading Bill Simmons that I garner the bravado to try this on my own.
I knew from the 80's I could write entertaining sports stories. I kept to myself and friends. Soemtimes they were rapsongs, sometimes they were fake scripts, but I had fun doing them for myself. But it wasn't until I read Simmons that I realized people were readily accepting to crappy, dull ones too.
I won't say he "spawned" me, but he spurred me...
And when he had the opportunity to co-write a piece with Hunter Thompson (the guy who DID spawn me) and dragged his feet and dicked around until HST shot himself, THAT was what did the most spurring.
HST did the right thing blowing his head off before collaborating with Bill. Have you ever heard Bill Simmons talk? I can't take his sports opinions seriously when I hear his voice.
After Ralph Wiley and Ken Kesey died, I figured - damn there's no one even worth reading on page 2 (besides Paul Lukas and Gregg Easterbrook) so after shittalking my fantasy football league to death, I started my first blog.
The rest is history in the making!!!
