Yeah, I don't get it. The whole DYAR thing is gonna take some time. It would be nice if they ran us through some calculations.

I'm waiting for my copy of the book so I can deep dive this a little bit. Most statistics other Mean and Standard Deviation aren't very intuitive to me. I need to mull it over with a fine beverage and a little bit of time.

Ha, I was just reading that when I saw your message... I picked up PFP08 yesterday and haven't put it down since, but I'm not sure I like DYAR -- isn't the whole point to move beyond yards and think about what actually helps teams win games? You don't win by getting more yards than the opponent, you win by scoring more points, and that was one of the big appeals of DPAR. I like how they've adjusted DVOA and changed the replacement level, but I think they've unintentionally muddied the water by switching from DPAR to DYAR.
