Do it your way, but can you get rid of the "PGA: Opinions - Tour Events - Results/Schedule - Players - Courses - Dictionary - World Rankings - Stats" bar, and instead taking the top 25 of each of those and turning them into little menu items? Use the right side of MLB as a guide, and stick them there. When you're done, I'll come in and clean it up.
Thanks for the advice, I didn't know how long to make the articles because I wasn't sure everyone would actually take the time to read them. I have noticed that most of the articles(atleast the good ones) are a bit longer. Thanks
Only Difference is that Michigan St. beat Colorado College, but seeing as you didn't pick Colorado College, I don't think that matters.
Hey, I'm happy to help. I'm kind of obsessive about grammar. It's a great series you've got going, I really enjoy reading it.
Check the lockerroom again on the snooker liveblog. I explained why it didn't take half an hour! (But I didn't minus you, for the record).
I fixed it :) Check out the page now. I removed the nav bar -- we'll have to add it in again later, in a different way, ok?
I'd like to interview you for the Meet the Users series. 1. How did you learn about AGM? 2. How good are the Celtics? Have they benefited from a soft schedule or are they legit? 3. Fact of Fiction: The Red Sox will win another World Series title. 4. As a Pats fan, are you the slightest bit nervous about the playoffs? Or, are you ready to by a Super Bowl XLII championship T-Shirt? 5. Make the case: Boston is a better sports city than New York.
Can you adapt your Jeff Feagles article into his encyclopedia entry please? :)
You wanna create http://www.armchairgm.com/Kentwan_Balmer <-- that page?
Thanks Bobby, I'm just trying to get my work out to as many places as possible. Good luck with everything.
There's no easy way to do it, but it's not hard to do by hand. Just copy the top part of the page into the existing page and redo the data.
It works for me. Try using Help:Players to create the formatting, though?
Hey, wanna help me with an NFL draft prospect project?
Well, for starters I would use the actual stats, not just the rankings. And I wouldn't arbitrarily give weightings to the categories unless I had proof that certain ones should be worth double.
Basically, I would run a linear regression to find the appropriate weights for the different stats. So, instead of looking at team ranking in point differential, yardage differential, TO differential, etc., I would take the actual numbers in those categories and see which ones correlate most highly to actual winning percentage. If you can find historical data (like this), you could dump a few years' worth into Excel, regress on wins, and apply your formula to this year's data to find how many games each team "should" have won based on their stats. And from there, you could even make an SOS adjustment, or what have you.
Anyway, when constructing a statistic, I think people should always make sure their weights are derived from some sort of regression (which will be the best hope of reflecting reality), instead of just arbitrarily picking weights. If you get a model that's a pretty good predictor of past wins from game stats, it will be able to give you a good picture of who the best teams are this year, based on their stats.
I sent you foam fingers but I didn't mean to drop in the Leafs comment since you're a Bostonian. Doh. I don't hate the Bruins anywhere close enough as much as I hate the Leafs.
