Welcome back Agent...was wondering where you were. See where Schmidt is back on the DL..he is becoming another Pryor-Pavano type but guess he can't help it. I will never forget him refusing to pitch on three days rest during the playoffs for Giants one time and they were eliminated with him sitting on the bench watching the game. Sometimes a player puts the team first and not himself because I don't think he had injury problems at the time.

Excellent question.

NHL points are determined by taking the sum of a player's goals and assists. Each goal that is scored in the NHL could have as many as 2 assits. Generally the last two players to pass the puck prior to the goalscorer each receive an assist. Sometimes goals will only have 1 assist if only 1 player passed it before the goal and when a goal has 0 assists it is called an unassisted goal.

At the end of the season if two players are tied in total points then the player with more goals is awarded the scoring title.
