Shimmering T: Week 7 Start/Sit
| 1
|
Last week I went 19-6-1 in my start/sit picks. My start picks are borderline players; my sit picks are the best players at their positions. That is my intro; do I need to say more?
On to this week’s start/sit:
Here are the details that decide wins or losses: 17 points for a QB, 10 points for a RB or WR, 6 points for a TE, 8 for kickers, and 8 for defenses, all based on the following standard fantasy scoring (QB 20y = 1, TD = 4, INT = -2, FUM = -1; QB, RB, WR, TE 10y = 1, TD = 6, FUM = -1; K 0-39 = 3, 40-49 = 4, 50+ = 5, XP = 1; DEF Sack = 1, INT = 2, FUMRec = 2, TD = 6, Safety = 4).
Last Week: 19-6-1 Season Record: 101-76-3 or 57% QB: 15-14-1 RB: 22-11-1 WR: 18-15-1 TE: 11-16 K: 18-8 DEF: 18-10
Starts (Adrian Petersons):
The following matchups are of players who are questionable starts for many fantasy owners, who should start this week based on their matchup (named each week for the player who most took advantage of his matchup the previous week):
QB:
Drew Brees, ATL @ NO
Brees looked like the Brees of old against the Seahawks and his fantasy owners must be hoping he goes on a run similar to last season. Whether he will or not is unknown, but this week should give him a streak of two quality start.
Marc Bulger, STL @ SEA
Not sure why, exactly, other than the porous Seattle defense. This game wreaks of team-has-been-playing-terribly-but-puts-it-together-for-one-game game. Longest hyphenated adjective, ever.
Jeff Garcia, TB @ DET
Garcia has been error-free this year and his streak should continue against the Lions lack of a pass defense.
RB:
Larry Johnson, KC @ OAK
This is really pushing it in terms of questionable starts, but I predicted last week’s breakthrough to the T…Shimmering T. I get to ride him one more week and he should be huge against a Raiders D giving up 5.6 YPC…gulp.
Maurice Jones-Drew, IND @ JAX
Another stretch, but he is going to have the game of the week. Guaranteed.
Thomas Jones, NYJ @ CIN
Showed what he can do last week, especially when given the opportuni…oh wait. Mangenius? Jones should have no trouble running against the Bengals.
WR:
Patrick Crayton, MIN @ DAL
Defenses have been keying in on TO or he has been dropping the ball, leaving Crayton and his own share of drops to score on a consistent basis. The Vikes are a great matchup for any WR because people have essentially given up running on them.
Jerricho Cotchery, NYJ @ CIN
I’m not feeling Laveranues this week and someone has to catch the ball against a terrible Bengals defense.
David Patten, ATL @ NO
Patten was the go-to guy last week and has quietly been developing a solid rapport with Brees. Should be the beneficiary of a long TD pass.
TE:
Greg Olsen, CHI @ PHI
He’s here every week, but love his abilities in a Bears’ offense that lacks reliability.
Jeremy Shockey, SF @ NYG
I had Alge Crumpler in here first, but it appears that he might not play tomorrow. Certainly wouldn’t want to tell you to start an injured guy. Shockey has let down his fantasy owners thus far, but should score a touchdown against the 49ers.
K:
Nick Folk, MIN @ DAL
Once again, love the Vikings defense for kickers, especially since Cowboys can put up yards and points.
Mike Nugent, NYJ @ CIN
The Jets will be able to drive, but still lack that something extra to get it into the end zone.
Jason Hanson, TB @ DET
I like Hanson this week, despite his early struggles. I think the Lions offense comes out firing on all cylinders after the bye week.
DEF:
Giants vs. SF
The team with the most sacks faces a struggling offense that has allowed the third most sacks, despite already having a bye.
Chiefs @ OAK
Oakland looked like Oakland last week. Chiefs defense has been the model of consistency this season.
Seahawks vs. STL
As I mentioned in my observations this week, the Rams are a must-play offense.
Sit (Marques Colstons):
The following matchups are of players who would be likely starts, who are in for a rough time because of their matchups (named each week for the player who took advantage of his matchup the least last week):
QB:
Ben Roethlisberger, PIT @ DEN
Big Ben will watch as Willie Parker and Najeh Davenport run through the Broncos defense.
RB:
Marion Barber, MIN @ DAL
Barber has a string of tough matchups and it doesn’t get much harder than the Vikings.
Marshawn Lynch, BAL @ BUF
Tough matchup for Marshawn this week because the Ravens can match his speed on the defensive side of the ball.
Travis Henry, PIT @ DEN
The Steelers have yet to give up a 100-yard rusher this season and the streak is at or nearing 30 weeks.
WR:
Larry Fitzgerald, ARI @ WAS
I am a big believer in the Redskins pass D. As a result, Fitz is sitting in my keeper league.
TE:
Dallas Clark, IND @ JAX
I think Jacksonville wins this game on the ground and Clark has his first off-day against a very fast Jaguars defense.
Owen Daniels, TEN @ HOU
I have ridden the Daniels bandwagon to success the past few weeks, but his string of 60 yard+ games ends this week.
K:
Jason Elam, PIT @ DEN
I really, really, really don’t like him this week. You can do better.
DEF:
Vikings @ DAL
Dallas proved a lot in their loss to the Patriots and they appear to be the clear favorite in the NFC. Their offense is not a good matchup for any defense.
Good luck this weekend,
--Shimmering T.
