Shimmering T: Week 15 Start/Sit
| 2
|
My best week in fantasy football was not confined to my fantasy teams last week, as I spread the love around, hitting on 23 of 31 predictions. That, my friends, is impressive. In fact, I was 8 for 8 on RBs, which means I helped a ton of people last week in their playoff games—oh wait, only 57 read the article. But that’s OK, because I have loyal readers who are all probably in the second round of the playoffs now. Moving on, I am going to keep the start sit to a minimum, since that seemed to work last week. Here are the picks for Week 14…
Here are the details that decide wins or losses: 17 points for a QB, 10 points for a RB or WR, 6 points for a TE, 8 for kickers, and 8 for defenses, all based on the following standard fantasy scoring (QB 20y = 1, TD = 4, INT = -2, FUM = -1; QB, RB, WR, TE 10y = 1, TD = 6, FUM = -1; K 0-39 = 3, 40-49 = 4, 50+ = 5, XP = 1; DEF Sack = 1, INT = 2, FUMRec = 2, TD = 6, Safety = 4).
Last Week: 23-8 Season Record: 219-181-10 or 55% QB: 30-20-2 RB: 50-32-4 WR: 43-32-3 TE: 22-32 K: 36-24 DEF: 39-29
Start:
QB:
Kurt Warner, ARI @ NO All year long I’ve been pro Saints opposing QBs and I won’t stop in Week 14.
Ben Roethlisberger, PIT vs. JAX The Jaguars have a horrendous pass defense (27th) and the Steelers will come out fire up.
RB:
Adrian Peterson, MIN vs. CHI One good thing about All Day’s terrible game last week was that now I can include him in this column without feeling dirty. 224 and 3 TDs—that’s what he put up last time against the Bears.
Earnest Graham, TB vs. ATL You know what you’re getting, 70-100 yards and a TD.
Willis McGahee, BAL @ MIA McGahee has been solid and now faces the worst rush D in the league.
Ryan Grant, GB @ STL Grant will continue to dominate, running out the clock against the 21st-ranked rush D of the Rams.
Rudi Johnson, CIN @ SF As I said last week, Johnson has a knack for showing up when it matters most.
Jamal Lewis, CLE vs. BUF Lewis has been one of the strongest RBs in the past few weeks, thanks to a soft schedule and a renewed commitment to the run. Should get decent yardage and a TD.
WR:
Joey Galloway, TB vs. ATL The Falcons have given up 8 passing TDs in the past 3 weeks and the Bucs will respond to Jeff Garcia’s return to the lineup.
Santonio Holmes, PIT vs. JAX Holmes is a forgotten man in most fantasy squads, getting injured at the wrong time of the year. He should respond well this weekend against the Jacksonville secondary.
Chris Chambers, SD vs. DET Chambers has been pushing toward a breakout over the past few weeks and I think he gets it this week against a struggling Lions defense.
TE:
Robert Royal, BUF @ CLE Royal thrives with Edwards at QB and is his safety valve in case of emergency.
K:
Phil Dawson, BUF vs. CLE Dawson should get back on track this week against Buffalo.
Josh Brown, SEA @ CAR The Seahawks should create a lot of offense down in Carolina and Brown will benefit.
Rian Lindell, BUF @ CLE Lindell goes up against the worst kicking defense in the league, having given up 126 points to kickers.
DEF:
Colts TM @ OAK The Colts should have success when the Raiders are forced to pass.
Packers TM @ STL The Pack should be on the attack and get more than a few sacks.
Buccaneers TM vs. ATL The Bucs have been great and The Golden Boy has them this week going against me.
Sit:
QB:
Tarvaris Jackson, MIN vs. CHI Fantasy owners should shy away from getting too excited about Jackson in this game, as it will be a game of running backs.
RB:
Clinton Portis, WAS @ NYG The Giants have been solid against the run and should limit Portis’ effectiveness.
Edgerrin James, ARI @ NO I’ve been railing against the Edge for weeks and he keeps on proving me right. New Orleans is underrated against the run.
Maurice Jones-Drew, JAX @ PIT I despise MoJo as he has cost me two of my five leagues single-handedly. Taylor is the guy in Jacksonville.
WR:
Lee Evans, BUF @ CLE Evans is far too reliant on TDs—and long TDs at that—to be in your playoffs fantasy lineups.
Roddy White, ATL @ TB Chris Redman won’t have such an easy time against the Bucs pass defense.
TE:
Jeremy Shockey, NYG vs. WAS Shockey only has one game this year above 10 fantasy points and hasn’t hit 5 in four games.
K:
Jason Hanson, DET @ SD San Diego gives up the third fewest points to kickers and is an all-or-nothing defense.
Adam Vinatieri, IND @ OAK The Colts should be able to run the ball effectively in the red zone, limiting FG opportunities.
DEF:
Bears TM @ MIN The Bears won’t have much of a chance to cause problems on defense when the Vikings are running it 3 out of every 4 downs.
Jaguars TM @ PIT The Jags will have a tough time stopping the pass at first and the run second.
Best of luck to everyone in the playoffs this weekend, except for The Golden Boy who I am playing in the playoffs of the Fleaflicker original league.
