Random Thoughts and Brutal Honesty 10/26/07

It's time for me to dish my regular clear-cut dose of brutal honesty regardless of consequence, So without further adu, let'd dip our feet into the pool.

- Am I the only one that is completely dismayed by these lop-sided World Series these past few years?   The Red Sox and the White Sox swept the Cardinals and Astros respectively and then the Cardinals won in 5 last year.   The disparity between the American League and the National League is so large it could fit Two Grand Canyons.  The world of baseball best get used to the tandem of Jacoby Ellsbury and Dustin Pedroia.  Who would have thought the top of the lineup would become as dangerous as the heart of their lineup?  With Joe Torre gone from the Yankees, the most successful manager at the present time will be Terry Francona. Everything he has touched {Justin Ellsbury, Ortiz starting over the Youk} has turned to gold.  And with Ellsbury, Pedroia, Okajima and the rise of Dice-K, this team is set up to win for the rest of this decade and beyond.

- Life couldn't be better for a Boston fan at the present moment.   Pinch yourselves several times.   The Red Sox will be celebrating tonight.   The New England Patriots are playing at an unreal level.   And then you have the Boston Celtics shalacking the Cleveland Cavs on Friday night.  If that game is any measure of what the big three wil do,  then God help Eastern Conference opponents trying to stop them.  Put this in perspective: The Boston/New England area has as of right now: Tom Brady, Randy Moss, Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen, Paul Pierce, Manny Ramirez, David Ortiz, Josh Beckett, Curt Schilling.  I'll repeat it again: LIFE COULD NOT GET ANY BETTER FOR A BOSTON FAN! Oh yeah, and did I forget Boston College?

The Cleveland Cavaliers are the equivalent of Roy Williams, so cheap that they wouldn't tip the pizza delivery guy.  If the Cavaliers and  their fans think they're going back to the Finals with practically the same team sans Sasha and Anderson Varejao, they must be high.  In what was one of the best offseasons in recent memory, the Cleveland Cavaliers sat on their hands and did nothing.  The only player they went after was Mike Bibby and they couldn't even get him. {and with his recent injury, it may be a blessing in disguise}  I would be disgusted if I were a Cavs fan.  They are altogether putting too much on Lebron's broad shoulders.  King Lebron has no court.  I wrote an article a couple of years back about there being a lack of a second option other than Lebron.  2 years later, no second option.  If Lebron dosen't get a team around him by the end of his contract, he should consider leaving.

Can somebody tell me why Cleo Lemon is speaking at a press conference? Exactly what has he done in his NFL career to be deserving of such a honor?  And if Jason Taylor should have the honor of having his likeness on display, then they should have at least done one of Strahan.  Anyway, it's a historic day for the NFL playing their first regular season game overseas.  Too bad it'll be a lopsided affair as the Dolphins move one step closer to football infamy.

The Lakers and Kobe Bryant should do themselves both a favor and rid themselves of each other.  This saga will continue to be a distraction limiting their progress anyway.  Name me the last time someone misses traveling with the team because of a wrist injury!!  Teams should start fielding offers now and the Cavs should throw their hat in the....man who am I kidding?? Hopefully, he'll go to an Eastern Conference team.

Hank Steinbrenner is so full of expletive deleted.   After having the patience of a two-year old baby in dealing with Joe Torre only because he couldn't deliver a World Series.  Now he's preaching patience claiming that we shouldn't expect to win a World Series every year.  If I wanted to listen to BS, i'd attend a political fundraiser.  Yankee fans should be very concerned over where this franchise is headed.  The fact is that no incoming manager can please these self-serving bigots in the front office no matter how well they do.  Just ask Joe Torre.
