I had the privledge of enjoying the game firsthand yesterday and I can definitely tell you this: Chien-Ming Wang did NOT have his A-stuff. Three of the first four outs were fly balls, and When Wang is on there are not four flyballs in an entire game. That Being said, the only inning in which Wang faltered was the seventh and he still put together a very respectable outing.
As far as the offense goes, It was pretty standard fare for the Yanks. The first inning, when Bobby Abreu drove in the only two runs of the entire game, (Didn’t I just say that the Yanks Offense goes as Bobby Does? I’m a Genius.) consisted of the team taking pitches and working out walks. After those two runs, The bombers stopped walking and started swinging at stuff out of the strike zone. Hence, They didn’t score.
I also strongly disagree with Jorge Posada being on the bench yesterday. I know that Joe Torre’s logic was that it was a day game after a night game and that makes sense to a degree. However, he also will most likely NOT be playing on friday due to Wil Nieves being Mike Mussina’s personal catcher. Then, The Yanks have a double header tomorrow in which Posada will probably catch Kei Igawa in the first game. Nieves will then catch Matt DeSalvo (Yep, He’s back.) in the second half. Posada will then catch Sunday. So, In a Five-Game weekend, Jorge will only catch two games. That CAN’T happen.
Let the Phil Huges countdown begin. Seriosuly, Just wait.
